Four arrested on suspicion of theft after diesel stolen from quarry in Hadleigh

Four young men were arrested, following multiple instances of theft at a quarry in Hadleigh. In the first incident, which occurred at the quarry in Aldham Mill Hill between Friday, March 27, and 7am on Monday, March 30, red diesel, a fuel cap from a loading shovel vehicle and an electric pump were stolen, while the lock to a generator was also broken. At the same quarry, there was a further attempt to steal red diesel from a truck between 5.30pm on Tuesday, March 31, and 6.40am the following day.

Subsequently, Suffolk Police arrested four males – aged 20, 18, 17 and 16 – on Thursday on suspicion of theft.

After they were taken to the Suffolk Constabulary Police Investigation Centre in Bury St Edmunds for questioning, three of the men were released under investigation, pending further inquiries.

Anybody with information about the thefts is asked to call police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 37/19080/20 for the first incident and 37/18788/20 for the second incident.
