1 person injured after pickup truck crashes into Pittsfield home

By Amanda Burke , The Berkshire Eagle PITTSFIELD — The operator of a pickup truck was injured Tuesday after the vehicle struck a home on Elm Street. The driver, whose name was not released, was transported to Berkshire Medical Center with injuries that were not life threatening, according to Pittsfield police.

The pickup was traveling eastbound in the 200 block of Elm Street around 2:30 p.m. when it left the roadway and struck a home. The vehicle then came to a stop near a tree in the yard of the property. An awning that had been affixed over the doorway of a home on the property tumbled to the ground.

The crash prompted first responders to close a portion of Elm Street to traffic for about over an hour Tuesday afternoon. Police did not immediately respond to an inquiry seeking details about the circumstances of the crash. The crash investigation is being led by Pittsfield Police Sgt.

Marc Maddalena.
