Watch as huge 'nuclear' convoy escorted through Staffordshire today

This was the moment a ‘nuclear’ convoy was escorted through Staffordshire today. Several large military green trucks were filmed making their way through Stafford earlier this afternoon (July 26). They were joined by a number of police vans and a fire engine as they negotiated a roundabout close to the Audi dealership where Stone Road meets the A34 and A513.

It is believed they were on their way to MOD Stafford. StokeonTrentLive reader Thomas Otter, who recorded the footage, said: “It came through at around 11.50 to 12.15pm. “The police wouldn’t mention what they were carrying, his words were it’s a secret.

“I assume it went to the army base.

It  returned an hour later and asked to come through the road closure.”

Nukewatch UK explains nuclear convoys are ‘easily recognisable’ as it is ‘unlike anything else on the roads.

Its website reads: “There is a multiplicity of escort vehicles, often spread out over several miles, and travelling at up to 55mph.”
