Broken down caravan fell off recovery truck and blocked Devon road

A broken down caravan has fallen off a recovery truck and blocked a road in Devon. Roads and traffic monitoring service Inrix first reported the incident on the B3212 – the main road from Dartmoor into Exeter – at 1.09pm. Inrix’s alert reads: “Longdown Road partially blocked, slow traffic due to shed load of a Caravan near College Lane.

The caravan was shed from a recovery truck.” It comes during a difficult – and tragic – day on the region’s roads. In the early hours of this morning, a motorcyclist died after a crash in Kingsteignton, near Newton Abbot.

Strong winds that are currently battering the region wreaked havoc on roads across Devon and Cornwall, with a string of fallen down trees and other incidents..

And there are tailbacks on the M5, A30 and and A38 this afternoon as tourists leave Devon and Cornwall at the end of their holiday – and thousands more head down to start theirs.
