A38 Plymouth incident latest

A person has been reported to have serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash on the A38 Parkway in Plymouth. The incident, which happened at 2.30 pm this afternoon (September 1) saw the A38 at The Parkway between Manadon and Weston Mill, with the road closure located at Manadon Roundabout. Witnesses at the scene describe multiple emergency services in attendance.

One witness told Plymouth Live: “There are currently three fire engines, one ambulance, two ambulance cars, two unmarked police cars and several marked police cars going to the scene.” Traffic reporting service Inrix reported that the collision involves a car and a lorry, with one vehicle colliding with a parked vehicle in the layby. They report: “A38 at The Parkway Westbound blocked, queuing traffic due to serious accident.

A car and a lorry involved from A386 Outland Road (Manadon Roundabout) to A3064 (Weston Mill). A vehicle has collided with a parked vehicle within the layby.”

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called at 2.30 pm today to the A38 at St Budeaux, Plymouth following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.

“Emergency services remain at the scene and the road is closed in both directions to allow for the air ambulance to attend. “One person is reported to have sustained serious injuries. “Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.”

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service (SWAST) confirmed they were also at the scene.

“South Western Ambulance Service responded to a call on Monday at 2.32 pm about a road traffic incident on the A38 at The Parkway,” the SWAST spokesperson said.

“We sent two land ambulance crews and two additional paramedics to attend the incident.”
