A47 accident: Woman fighting for her life after car and lorry crash

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a crash on the A47 this afternoon. Officers were called to reports of an accident involving a car and a HGV on the A47 at South Brink, Wisbech, at 12.28pm today (Tuesday September 8). Emergency services attended the scene including police, together with paramedics and firefighters.

The driver of the car, a woman, has been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn in a critical condition. The lorry driver was unharmed. As a result of the serious crash the A47 is closed between the Guyhirn roundabout and the Cromwell Road Wisbech roundabout until further notice.  

Motorists are advised to avoid the area or seek alternate routes.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact them via the web-chat  or by calling 101, quoting incident number 188 of 8 September.
