Family devastated as elderly woman who died after being hit by lorry is named

An elderly woman who died after being hit by a lorry has been named as Pauline Thomas. The 84-year-old pedestrian, Crowood Avenue in Stokesley, collided with a Blue Scania HGV at around 12 noon on Friday. The incident took place on Brompton Road, near Kwik Fit, in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 50s from the Catterick area, was uninjured. He is now assisting police with their enquiries. In a statement, Pauline’s family said: “Pauline’s family are devastated by her sudden and horrific death.

“They would like to thank the emergency services and members of the public who attended the scene and cared for Pauline, as well as those who supported family members, both at the scene and afterwards.”

North Yorkshire Police has asked anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the vehicle prior to the crash, to contact them.
