Live updates as car crash closes part of A52 near Derby

A crash has closed part of the A52 this morning between Nottingham and Derby. Traffic information company Inrix says the busy route is closed westbound between the junction for Bramcote Island and the junction for the M1 motorway. Inrix said it has received reports that one car was left facing in the wrong direction following the accident.

It appears the incident happened just before 4am this morning. A diversion route is in currently place and drivers are being warning that the closure will be in place for several hours. Details of any injuries or the condition of those involved in the accident is not yet known.

Highways England has also confirmed the closure this morning on Twitter and said it will remain in place at least into the rush hour. It tweeted: “A52 WB is currently closed at Bramcote due to a road traffic collision. Updates to follow.”
