Old Shoreham Road closed after lorry hits lamppost in Hove

A ROAD is closed after a lorry driver got into difficulty along a busy main route. The flatbed truck appears to have had trouble turning off the Old Shoreham Road in Hove onto Upper Drive. A witness said the vehicle is wedged in against a lamppost, and police are understood to have closed Upper Drive.

The incident has happened just an hour before nearby schools are set to finish for the second day. A witness said: “He looks like he has got himself into a pickle. He has completely smashed the lorry into a lamppost and seems to have misjudged it.

“It’s lucky that it didn’t happen while children were walking home from school.”

The police have been contacted for comment about road closures, but motorists may expect delays in the area.
