Police investigating after HGV knocks cyclist off bike and drives away

Police have launched an investigation after a cyclist was knocked off his bicycle by a HGV which then drove away. Officers were called to the A51 Peacock roundabout in Willaston, near Nantwich, at around 7.50am this morning following the collision. The cyclist, a man, suffered minor injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The HGV driver did not stop and continued onto the A51 Nantwich Bypass, heading towards the Alvaston roundabout. Now Cheshire Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage of the collision, to come forward. PC Emma Flinn said: “Although the cyclist only sustained minor injuries, the result of the collision could have been a lot worse and have had devastating consequences.

“I would like to take this time to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision who has not yet come forward to do so.
