Stolen car hits telegraph pole in Halesowen crash and driver flees scene

A STOLEN car crashed in Halesowen at the weekend with the driver fleeing the scene. The incident happened on Halesowen Road at around 2.56pm on Saturday (September 5). The stolen red Citroen car, which hit a telegraph pole and a wall, landed on its side.

Witnesses said it almost hit an elderly lady.  The road was closed off after the crash and police say they are  examining CCTV footage of the incident. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service attended – but the driver could not be found. A spokesman for WMAS said: “We were called at 2.56pm on Saturday to reports of a single car road traffic collision on Halesowen Road. “One ambulance attended, but there were no patients at the scene.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after a stolen red Citroen car collided with a telephone pole and a wall in Halesowen Road, Halesowen, at about 2.55pm on Saturday (5 September). “No injuries were reported to us and it is understood that the driver left the scene. “The vehicle, which had earlier been reported stolen from the Halesowen area, has been recovered.
