Woman seriously injured after three-vehicle A30 crash

A woman is believed to have suffered serious injuries after a three-vehicle crash on the A30 near Bodmin. The crash, involving a car, a breakdown recovery vehicle, and a van happened at around 1.15 pm today (September 2) on the A30 eastbound between Victoria and Innis Downs. The A30 was closed in both directions to allow Cornwall Air Ambulance to land.

Police say the van, which had one man inside the vehicle, overturned and ended up on its side. He is reportedly out of the van and is being treated by paramedics. The incident resulted in long tailbacks on the A30, with traffic monitoring service Inrix reporting: “A30 in both directions blocked, queueing traffic due to serious accident, two vehicles involved from B3274 (Victoria) to A389 (Lanivet).

“To allow an air-ambulance land both carriageways have been closed as of 13:50 following an accident that happened on the eastbound side. Affecting traffic between Bodmin and Indian Queens.”

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers attended reports of a three-vehicle collision reported at 1.15 pm today, 2 September, Involving a van, a breakdown recovery truck and a car on the A30 between Victoria and Innis Downs [eastbound] “One woman is believed seriously injured and is being treated by paramedics.

“The van ended up on its side with one man inside. He is out of the vehicle and being treated by ambulance. The severity of injuries not yet known.

“The carriageway has been closed eastbound with the westbound carriageway also being temporarily closed for the air ambulance to land.

“Fire service also on the scene”.
