YouTube star Emily Hartridge who died in e-scooter crash had flat tire

A YouTube star who became the first person to be killed in Britain while riding an electric scooter lost control and was thrown under a lorry after getting a flat tyre, a coroner has ruled.

Emily Hartridge, 35, a TV presenter, died in July last year.

She lost control of the scooter in Battersea, south London, and was crushed by an HGV.

Fiona Wilcox, senior coroner at Westminster coroners’ court, wrote in her conclusions: “She died instantly of injuries sustained by the HGV driving over her.

“The scooter was being unsuitably driven, too fast and with an underinflated tyre and this caused the loss of control and her death.”
