Hi Mix Concrete truck driver killed in freak rollover at Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills

A truck driver has been killed in a freak accident in the Adelaide Hills.

Police were called to Spring Gully Road at Piccadilly just after 1pm on Monday after the driver lost control and slammed into a tree.

The concrete truck rolled onto its side upon impact, crushing the front cabin with the driver inside.

It is unclear who raised the alarm on the isolated stretch of road.

Paramedics were unable to save the man.

His employer, Hi Mix Concrete, told 7NEWS they are “very sad” upon hearing of his death.

They said the man had been with them for many years and was a “good driver”.

Owner Tony Romano said this is the first accident he has seen in 30 years of business.

Police and emergency services undertook a delicate five-hour operation to remove the truck from the scene.

Major Crash Officers have seized recorded data from the truck, which will be used to determine what caused the accident.
