Lorry drivers blasted after using this North Staffordshire beauty spot as toilet

Lorry drivers are being blasted after using a popular beauty spot to go to the toilet and have a bath. Chesterton Community Angling Club – which is based at Lymedale Pools – says truckers have been leaving behind their human waste at the site for years. And recently one lorry driver was even seen bathing in the water – with his shower gel and towel on the fishing platform.

Club chairman Stuart Stockton says some of the truckers are servicing the nearby New Look warehouse, on Lymedale Business Park. He says he has been raising similar issues with the company for the three years.

Now the train engineer wants the company to provide facilities where the HGV drivers can freshen up. The 43-year-old said: “It’s disgusting – the lorry drivers are leaving mess all around the pools.

They’re parking illegally on double-yellow lines overnight and we can have truck drivers there for 12 hours or more. “In this day and age you’d think a multi-million pound company like New Look would provide some facilities for them. There appears to be nowhere for them to wash or use the toilet.

They should provide some basic facilities for them. “I’ve even had them washing in the pools. One of them was having a bath in the fishing pools recently.

I know it sounds funny but I’m being 100 per cent serious. He had his towel and shower gel on the fishing platform and he was having a bath. It’s been going on for years and we have children using the pools.”

Fashion retailer New Look has declined to provide a statement to StokeonTrentLive.

It says the issue is with a third-party logistics contractor and their drivers.

New Look says it does have facilities for third-party lorry drivers to use on the site.
