Man trapped in car crash with HGV walks free in dramatic rescue

A MAN trapped after a car crash involving a HGV walked free in a dramatic rescue. Firefighters found the man trapped inside a Nissan Leaf car which had left the road in Weaver Street, Winsford and ended up on a grass bank. The incident happened at around 2.45pm yesterday.

Firefighters made the car safe and were at the scene for more than an hour. A major incident unit from Winsford and four fire engines, two from Winsford, one from Northwich and one from Middlewich were used in the rescue. A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: “We sent two ambulances and two rapid response vehicles.

“The casualty was walking wounded and had minor injuries.

He didn’t need to go to hospital.”
