Perth East truck driver charged with impaired driving

A Perth East transport-truck driver is facing an impaired driving charge after he was caught swerving across the road in Perth South Tuesday evening, police say.

Stratford police have charged a Perth East transport-truck driver with impaired driving following a traffic stop on Perth Line 26 in Perth South Tuesday evening. In a press release issued Thursday afternoon, police said an officer pulled over the truck in question after they saw it swerving back and forth across the road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer became concerned his ability to drive may have been impaired by alcohol and conducted a roadside test, which the truck driver failed.

Police arrested the driver and brought him to Stratford Police headquarters, where further testing showed he allegedly had twice the legal limit for alcohol in his system. As a result, police charged a 56-year-old Perth East man with impaired driving and released him on an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford court on Oct.
