Police statement as cyclist crashes with pick-up truck near Hull Royal Infirmary

A cyclist has been injured and rushed to hospital after a crash with a pick-up truck near Hull city centre. Paramedics called Humberisde Police to attend the scene at around 7.45pm prompting the force to close the road for more than an hour. The crash happened near the junction of Argyle Street and Londesborough Street, near to the back of Hull Royal Infirmary.

Access to Argyle Street from Anlaby Road was shut due to the accident. The Humberside force confirmed that the road was closed and the vehicles involved. “It’s a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a pick-up truck,” a spokeswoman for Humberside Police said.

“We were called at 7.45pm by ambulance crews.

The cyclist has been taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing. “The road is due to fully reopen shortly.” Reporting the crash to Hull Live, one witness said: “There has been an accident between a car and a cyclist at the back of Hull Royal.

Just up near the bridge.

Police and ambulance are there.”

The road was still closed as of 9.10pm.
