Traffic chaos in Reading after road closure

Drivers have complained of ‘traffic chaos’ after the main road in Reading was closed. London Road was closed between Cemetery Junction and its junction with the A3290 for resurfacing. It is a main route for drivers between East Reading, Earley and Woodley and Reading town centre.

The closure meant traffic was heavy in Wokingham Road and in Church Road. A driver said: “The traffic is really bad, everyone is diverting to Wokingham Road, so all the roads around there are gridlocked.” The road was due to reopen at 3.30pm.

It will be closed again between 9.30am-3.30pm on Friday, October 16. There were also delays following a crash reported at around 1pm near Reading College.
