Truck driver behind bars after 15-year-old texts 911 from inside his rig

A truck driver has been put in jail for criminal sexual conduct after his 15-year-old victim texted 911 for help.

34-year-old Kenneth Zehnder was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct this week in Minnesota, but is expected to be extradited back to his home state of Michigan to face federal charges.  According to Click on Detroit, court documents state that Zehnder was given permission to travel with two different minors in his truck on two separate occasions, but on his most recent trip, the minor, a 15-year-old girl, texted 911 for help.

In her text for help, the girl told dispatchers that she was raped by the truck driver and that she was still in the truck, providing them with a description of the truck and its location. Minnesota state troopers were then able to locate the truck and place Zehnder under immediate arrest.

Minnesota is one of five states that provides 911 help via text.

Court documents also state that the first minor Zehnder is known to have travelled with, a 12-year-old-girl, described being sexually attacked during the trip.

Authorities say that logs, GPS data, and video from inside of the truck have been obtained, providing them with a strong case against Zehnder.

Zehnder has been to prison in the past for convicted murder, but was discharged from parole in 2011. His trucking company has since stated that he is no longer employed with them.
