Burton man who'd been driving on provisional licence since 1988 finally caught

A driver stopped by cops in an uninsured vehicle was found to have been using a provisional licence for more than three decades. The driver was caught in a black pickup truck in Burton at the weekend by the Staffordshire Police Response Unit. The pickup was stopped for having no insurance, but the officers were then surprised to find the driver had been on the roads with only a provisional driving licence since 1988.

Police have now reported the driver for the offences. The unit, which is an arm of Staffordshire Police, shared a picture of the black pick-up after it had been pulled over by the police on Saturday, November 14. It shows the vehicle pulled over by the side of the road on a dark and wet night with the police car parked behind it.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “This black pickup was seized by officers in Burton and it’s driver reported for offences.

“The vehicle was uninsured but to make matters worse the driver had been driving on a provisional licence since 1988.”

Alongside this was an emoji of a shocked face and the hashtag “champion effort”.
