'Tailbacks' as car leaves road in crash on A23 at Pyecombe

A CRASH is causing “heavy tailbacks” on the A23. Debris was left scattered across the highway and a 4×4 left the road in the collision near Pyecombe. Police and ambulance crews are at the scene.

A traffic report warned that the road is partially blocked as a result of the incident. A crash on the A23 at Pyecombe is causing slow traffic An AA spokesman said: “One lane is closed and there is queueing traffic due to a collision on the A23 London Road southbound at the A273.

“Lane two (of two) is closed.” PC Glen McArthur of Sussex Roads Police is one of the officers attending the scene. He posted an update on social media, warning drivers to expect “heavy tailbacks” on the A23 as officers worked to deal with the aftermath of the incident.

Update

The road was reported to have been cleared by 5pm.
