Accident-plagued stretch of A34 now back open after crash shuts it for 10 hours
An accident-plagued stretch of the A34 is finally back open tonight – after being closed for 10 hours. Cheshire Police shut the A34 Manchester Road, in Marton, near Congleton, at 8am this morning due to a ‘road traffic collision’. It followed warnings of icy conditions on the A34 between Congleton and Monks Heath.
It is not known whether anyone needed any hospital treatment. A car was later seen being taken away from the scene on a roadside recovery truck. But StokeonTrentLive has been told that there was also a second accident which resulted in an electricity line coming down.
Now Cheshire East Council has tonight confirmed that the road is back open.

A council spokesman said: “The A34 Congleton road, at Marton, is now back open. Please drive with care.” StokeonTrentLive has contacted Cheshire Police regarding this morning’s incidents.
Anyone with any information about the collisions should call the police on 101.
