Chelmsford London Road crash: Police shut road as driver seriously injured after colliding with tree

Police have shut a major road in Chelmsford, Essex, after a driver collided with a tree. Officers were called to reports of a serious collision at Three Mile Hill on London Road in the Widford area at around 7am today (Sunday, January 31) and emergency services remain at the scene. The road has been completely shut to traffic following reports that a Honda had collided with a tree and the male driver had been seriously injured.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and the road, which stretches from junction 15 of the A12 to the A414 roundabout, could be closed for some time. For the latest traffic and travel news in your area, enter your postcode below: A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “Our officers are currently at the scene of a serious collision this morning, Sunday January 31, at Three Mile Hill on London Road, Widford, Chelmsford.

“The road is currently closed from the Widford roundabout and motorists are asked to avoid the area where possible. “We were called at just before 7am today following reports that a Honda had been in collision with a tree. The male driver of the vehicle has been seriously injured.

“Our officers remain at the scene and closures are in place while we deal with the incident.”
