'Massive explosion' after lorry bursts into flames on M8 near Tradeston
Part of the M8 has been closed after a lorry burst into flames on the road. Emergency services including three fire engines and police were called to the scene near Cessnock around 2pm this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a ‘massive explosion’ before the lorry went up in flames. There are no reported casualties at this time.
The eastbound junction 23 to the M74 southbound at Junction 1 remains closed due to the fire. There is a nine-minute delay on approach to the incident. A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.38pm on Thursday, January 28 to reports of an HGV on fire at M74, J1 heading southbound near to Tradeston slip road.
“Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene where crews are currently working to extinguish the fire.”
“There are no reported casualties at this time.”
Police Scotland confirmed that they are currently the scene assisting fire fighters.
