Branded trailer unveiled to promote Boughey’s support for food charity Fareshare
Boughey Distribution of Cheshire has launched a specifically branded trailer to promote the company’s partnership with the UK’s leading food redistribution charity, FareShare, which supports vulnerable people through its network of 11,000 charities. The team at Boughey encourages customers who store food with the company to donate surplus products to the charity, which are then distributed by its fleet to FareShare’s 25 depots. Since June 2019, the food distributed by Boughey has generated over half a million meals. Surplus food can be a result of forecasting issues, mislabelling or promotional items not selling as well as expected.
Thoughout the Covid-19 crisis, FareShare’s valuable work providing food to vulnerable people has been under the spotlight. Notably, since March last year, the charity has been supported by Manchester Utd and England footballer Marcus Rashford, whose high-profile campaign to support families at risk of hunger has captured the hearts and minds of the nation. Following Marcus’ involvement, FareShare has raised enough money to enable the charity to distribute the equivalent of 9.5 million meals for children and families who might not otherwise eat, as well as increasing awareness of child hunger in the UK, driving the issue to the top of the news agenda. Speaking about Boughey’s decision to create the branded trailer, Neil Trotter, Transport Operations Director said:
“We have enjoyed a really positive partnership with FareShare over the last eighteen months and the importance of the work they carry out has become increasingly exposed as the Covid-19 pandemic continues. We wanted to do our bit and go the extra mile for the charity and we thought that branding up a trailer in FareShare’s striking green and white livery will help to raise further awareness of their work. “The trailer will reach a huge audience as it continually travels up and down the country and the strong branding will certainly get noticed. We are engaging more and more of our customers in recycling their products. As well as the charitable and environmental benefits of diverting food away from landfill, customers can also save on additional costs they might incur, such as for the return of food, collection costs for food bins, landfill tax and labour to remove packaging.”
