Lorry bursts into flames on M80 sparking traffic chaos for drivers
A truck burst into flames sparking traffic chaos on one of Scotland’s busiest motorways. The trailer attached to the HGV went on fire just before 9.30am on Saturday. The inferno took place on the M80 southbound at junction three near Mollinsburn, North Lanarkshire.
Emergency services raced the scene and one lane was closed causing delays on the carriageway.

Photos show a number of police vehicles as well as two fire trucks blocking lanes on the motorway. The fire was put out on the hard shoulder. No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed. Traffic Scotland warned that traffic was slow on approach in the area. Police Scotland confirmed their attendance.
A spokesperson told the Record: “We were called at around 9.20am following reports of a vehicle on fire on the M80 at junction three southbound in Lanarkshire. “A vehicle was on fire in the hard shoulder. “Fire crews were in attendance.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed that the vehicle involved was an HGV and that the fire had now been put out. Crews remain on the scene. A SFRS spokesman told the Record: “We are in attendance at the scene of an HGV fire in its trailer at junction three of the M80 southbound.
“We were called at 9.22am.
“The fire has been extinguished.
“There are no reports of injuries at this time.”
