FIREFIGHTERS freed the trapped driver of an overturned lorry on the sliproad off Juction 15 of the M4. Crews from Stratton St Margaret and Swindon fire stations along with a heavy rescue vehicle from Reading fire station worked throughout the morning on a “difficult extrication” of the lorry driver after his HGV hit barriers on the westbound exit slip road and turned over. He was out of the vehicle by 11.10am and was taken to hospital by paramedics from South West Ambulance Service.

A SWAST spokesman said: “We were called at 8.38am about an incident involving an overturned lorry on the M4 westbound near junction 15. We sent various resources to attend the incident, including a critical care team and other specialist paramedics. “We treated a male patient and transported him to hospital by land for further care.”
