Driver seriously hurt in crash with box truck in Miramar

A 52-year-old driver suffered serious injuries Sunday when his car crashed into a box truck at an intersection near Interstate 15 in the Miramar area, San Diego police said. The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on Pomerado Road. Police said a westbound 2008 Ford E-350 truck hit a 2017 Honda Accord when the car turned from a southbound I-15 off-ramp onto east Pomerado Road.

The truck then hit a signal light, police said. The truck driver was not hurt. The Honda driver suffered two collapsed lungs, nine fractured ribs and a laceration to his right upper arm, police said.

He was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
