Road now open after long recovery of overturned HGV at Halghton Bridge

A ROAD was closed for several hours over the Bank Holiday after a lorry overturned. Emergency services were called to the A525 near Halghton Mill around 1pm on Monday. A lorry had flipped onto its side near to Bangor-on-Dee and the road was closed for ‘the foreseeable’.

After emergency services were called to the scene, North Wales Police confirmed that after around eight hours, the road was re-opened around 9pm. Crews from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service were also called to assist. Shortly after 3.50pm, PC Thomas Hough, from the North Wales Police Road Policing Unit provided an update.

He said: “With regards the collision on the A525, it is still closed and we are on scene with recovery and the environmental agencies regarding spillage of loads. “We will update as soon as we can, however expect it to be closed still for some time. “To add no injuries to any party and the damage is minor to the bridge and fencing, the road will be opened ASAP.”

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed two crews attended – one from Wrexham and one from Whitchurch and a woman was cared for at the scene.
