NHS staff can get half price tickets to Geronimo family festival at Heaton Park

NHS workers can get half price family passes to the Geronimo family festival coming to Heaton Park. The two-day special edition of the festival takes place this June, ahead of the main Geronimo festival at Arley Hall in Cheshire in August. Promising to be a ‘fun packed family festival’, it’ll feature stage shows, arena demonstrations, live music on the main stage, craft marquees, donkey rides, camel racing, monster truck shows, a funfair and ‘the world’s biggest bouncy castle’.

A 20,000-litre mermaid tank featuring displays throughout the day is expected to be a highlight of the event, along with the monster truck arena, two full circuses, jousting knights, a Wild West re-enactment arena and a high wire walker performing without a safety net.

The offer, available from today, May 10, brings the cost of a family pass to GBP35, instead of the normal GBP70. Founder Simon Goldman says the offer is a thank you to NHS workers for all they have done throughout the pandemic. He said: “When my sister fell ill with Covid recently she spent time in hospital on oxygen, being cared for by our wonderful NHS.

Offering a heavily discounted ticket to Geronimo is the very least we can do to say thank you.

“With 1,000 NHS family passes up for grabs, we hope to welcome NHS staff and their families to Heaton Park for a well deserved treat.” The promotion tickets must be purchased between May 10 and 23. The pass can include family of four plus a free under three and two free senior citizens so a party of seven.

Geronimo special edition is scheduled to take place over the weekend of June 26 and 27 – a week after the government is proposing to remove all restrictions on social contact.

The festival, which will also include zip lines and a silent disco, promises something for all members of the family to enjoy, with children’s entertainment aimed at two to 12 year olds.

Bands like The Rockin Rhinos and Johnny and the Raindrops will be live all weekend and Big Fish Little Fish will be there for the post-rave generation. There’ll also be DJ sets from Craig Charles, Bez from the Happy Mondays, Clint Boon and ‘other big Manchester names still to be announced’. Organisers say the most popular zone of the festival will be the main stage where families can see children’s TV presenters Sam and Mark, watch the live rock band Rockakoke and join in with a giant Frozen sing-along.

Artisan food trucks will be on hand to suit all dietary requirements and there’ll be a craft beer garden for those wanting to stop for a pint.

Adults will be asked to show either proof they’ve had the Covid vaccine, or proof of a negative Covid test before entry. If you forget your proof of test, there’ll be teams on hand to deliver immediate lateral flow tests to check that you’re clear. Anyone testing positive will be turned away and given a refund.
