Three hurt as car overturns after collision with truck on A500

Police and paramedics were called to the A500 after a car had overturned following a collision with a truck. The incident took place on the Southbound stretch beneath the bridge which passes beneath the Sideway roundabout at around 3.20pm this afternoon. Traffic cops from the Central Motorway Police Group attended the incident along with Staffordshire Police.

“We assessed three patients. Two had suffered minor injuries and were discharged at the scene while the third had also suffered minor injuries but was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.” A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “We were called today at about 3.20pm to an road traffic collision on the A500 underneath the Sideway bridge that links to the A50 in Stoke-on-Trent.

“Highways attended the scene to help cone one lane off to protect those involved and recovery for the vehicles was arranged.

West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended.”
