A fun festival with family at its heart and plenty to enjoy

IN a time known as BC (before child), I was quite fond of a festival jaunt. Not one to recoil at the horror of camping, mud and portable loos, just stick me in a field with some music and I’m more than happy. The past 17 months have seen festivals of any kind firmly off the agenda so it was great to visit Geronimo on Sunday and enjoy times of another BC kind (before coronavirus).

This family-orientated festival descended on the grounds of Arley Hall in Northwich, Cheshire, between Saturday and Monday. Aimed at children aged under 13 and their families, there was a raft of fun things to do see and do at the event. The site was nicely spread out with art installations and decorations dotted about giving it a real festival vibe.

Great music blasted from the stage throughout the day with The Rockin’ Rhinos entertaining music fans of all ages. My three-year-old son was transfixed watching the skills of the Tigers Children’s Motorcycle Display Team who demonstrated jumps and tricks on two wheels.

An extra special mention goes to the riders on the Ken Fox Wall of Death whose insane and gutsy talents left my hands clammy and heart in my mouth.

Katy Ashworth, of CBeebies fame, delighted the crowd enjoying her stage show in the Sunday sunshine with her endless energy and singalong songs.

Throw in a funfair and countless other attractions and Geronimo really was a fab family day out, with a festival feel — mud included.
