Coastguard called to beach after cars gets stuck in sand
Pictures have emerged after the coastguard got a call out to two cars stuck in the sands at Weston-super-Mare beach. The event drew crowds of people as the Coastguard Rescue Team attended on Friday, August 13 at around sunset as the vehicles were stranded close to the water, despite signage warning of high tides. It comes less than two weeks after Burnham Coastguard had to rescue a a jet ski that had run aground on the mud at Knighstone.

Further down the coast in Berrow, the coastguards were out yet again yesterday (Saturday, August 14) at 2.23pm when the Weston team were called to “back up flank team Burnham Coastguard with people in the mud”. On Facebook the Weston team wrote: “As we mobilised the team and made our way to join them, we were rerouted to provide a HLS (helicopter landing site) for the Air Ambulance that was en route to a casualty that required their attention on Weston high street. “The crew decided their best landing site was the parking area adjacent to the Weston Wheel.
We cleared the area and the helo landed safely. The paramedics went to attend to the casualty while we guarded their big green helicopter.

“On their return, again we had to clear the large crowd and stop traffic in case any debris from the car park became air born…luckily there were no issues, just plenty of excited kids, and adults. “We would like to thank everyone for their patience and questions.
Also a big shout out to some of the local businesses for keeping us hydrated.”
