Full M25 diversion route with ‘serious lorry fire’ causing major delays

A diversion is currently in place on the M25 following a “serious lorry fire” earlier this afternoon (Thursday, August 19). The M25 in Buckinghamshire is currently closed clockwise between J16 (for the M40) and J17 (for Maple Cross, Hertfordshire) due to the fire and there are heavy delays in the area as a result. Thames Valley Police are the scene and have urged motorists to avoid the area.

Some motorists have taken to social media to say they’ve been at a standstill for around 50 minutes already.

Drivers need to:

  • Exit the M25 clockwise at J16 and join the M40 towards Uxbridge
  • Exit the M40 at J1 (Denham Roundabout) and then take the 1st exit onto the A40 towards Amersham
  • At the traffic light controlled junction with the A412, turn right onto the A412 towards Rickmansworth
  • Pass under Denham railway bridge and follow the A412 to the Maple Cross roundabout
  • Take the 1st exit at the roundabout onto the A412/M25 link road towards the M25
  • At the M25 J17 roundabout, take the 3rd exit to re-join the M25 clockwise

Google Maps currently shows at least 10 miles of queues heading clockwise.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
