Brighton Racecourse entrance accidentally ‘demolished’ by lorry

Pictures from the site off Freshfield Road show workers at the scene after brickwork was smashed, reportedly by an artic lorry. Brighton Racecourse has been used as a vaccine site, administering coronavirus vaccines to residents across the city since January. More recently, ITV crews filming detective show Grace have reportedly been using the building as a base.

The entrance was reportedly accidentally “demolished” at 10.30pm on Wednesday night. Bricks could be seen scattered across the pavement and the large entrance sign had to be picked up by a forklift truck. The area was closed off using metal railings and cones.

Brighton Racecourse and the production team behind Grace were contacted for comment. Last month, Grace star John Simm was spotted at Brighton Station while filming the latest instalment of the ITV show. Grace is an adaption of Sussex author Peter James’s international bestselling book Dead Simple.

It is one of ITV’s most successful dramas with more than eight million people tuning in to watch the first series earlier this year.
