Disused park kiosk given new lease of life and transformed into trendy cafe

A new lease of life has been given to a park’s kiosk cafe which has laid empty and unused for years. Matthew Taylor and his wife, Lisa, who run the Langden Grill Food Truck in the Trough of Bowland said they saw huge potential in the disused Kiosk in Padiham Memorial Park. And after receiving permission from the council to take on the venue, the couple, from Clitheroe, who also run two branches of Hollywood Exports, a vintage Americana clothing store, have spent the last month revamping and transforming the run down unit, in time for their grand re-opening yesterday.

To coincide with Padiham Town Council’s annual Party in the Park, Mr and Mrs Taylor flug open their doors to the public for the first time, and they couldn’t have asked for a better welcome. Mr Taylor said: “The opening went fantastically.

There was an event in the park so it was busy anyway, but we got some great feedback. “People were coming in as adults with their own children, telling us they could remember it being open when they were little, but it’s been shut for a long, long time. “We have given it a revamp and hopefully locals and visitors will use us regularly.”

Aiming to create a similar vibe to the Langden Grill, which has a great reputation for locally sourced food, the response from locals was overwhelming, and as a result, he and his wife, and their team of staff will be serving up everything from juicy burgers, halloumi wraps, and Bajan fish cutter sandwiches, to weekly specials, as well as the staple of cakes and coffee.

The Kiosk Cafe will be open Thursday to Sunday from 9pm until 4pm.

Mr Taylor says he’s in the process of creating individual Facebook and Instagram pages for the Kiosk but for the time being people can keep up to date with what’s on offer by visiting their Langden Grill Food Truck Facebook page.
