‘Chaotic scenes’ following three-vehicle smash in Burton car park

Three vehicles have been involved in a collision in a Burton town centre car park on one of the busiest days of the year. The vehicles, understood to be a black Volkswagen, a red Toyota pick-up truck and a Vauxhall Astra, were involved in the crash in Coopers Square car park, at around 2pm today. One witness had been in the One Below shop nearby when she said she heard a loud bang and other customers rushing out of the shop.

She said: “It is absolutely chaotic scenes here. The police are here and an ambulance has arrived. “The woman who was driving the black Volkswagen was trapped in the car as it had wedged between the two other vehicles.

She managed to get out via the boot door.

It is understood no one was hurt

“I was in the back of the store in One Below and heard this loud bang and everyone rushed out. It is a right mess. “Someone said they were just inches away when it happened.

They are really shook up.” Staffordshire Police has been contacted for further detail.
