North Staffordshire road shut for two hours as lorry gets stuck in ditch

Part of a busy North Staffordshire road had to be closed off this morning after a truck became stuck in a ditch. A section of the A53 in Blackbrook was shut for around two hours while emergency services dealt with the incident. Staffordshire Police say they were called following reports of a collision at 7.45am this morning (December 30).

More traffic and travel news A spokesman said: “Officers attended and located a lorry – situated just after The Swan with Two Necks – which was stuck in a ditch. “The road was closed whilst recovery was arranged for the vehicle and ambulance crews tended to the driver.

“The road reopened at 9:48am once officers made the area safe.” Meanwhile West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were called out with a paramedic officer attending the scene. However a spokesperson said the truck driver was checked over but was uninjured and discharged at the scene.
