Emmerdale airs Meena exit as she flees village

Emmerdale aired dramatic scenes on Thursday night, as Meena Jutla’s killer crimes were finally exposed. Liam Cavanagh managed to save Vinny Dingle and Manpreet Sharma from her clutches, before he set off to kill her himself. Vinny called the police, and it wasn’t long before sirens were ringing as a series of police vehicles showed up to find the killer.

A dramatic chase in the woods led to another character fighting for their life, and Liam falling apart over the truth about his daughter Leanna’s death. Leanna was murdered by Meena last year, as was Andrea Tate and Ben Tucker, while Meena also killed someone named Nadine years earlier. Manpreet and Vinny learned the horrifying truth and were both held hostage, as Meena plotted to kill them too.

But she was stopped in the act by Liam who knocked her out, only for her to escape the barn so he set chase.

Manpreet was worried her killer sister might end up hurting pal Liam, or he might do something he lived to regret. She chased after the pair towards the woods, only for tragedy to strike as her former flame Charles Anderson knocked her down with his car while trying to find her.

He screamed out fearing he had killed her, while her fate remains unknown – as fans were initially led to believe it was Meena he had run over. Liam never managed to catch up with Meena, who was about to attack him too with a huge rock only to see the police coming for her.

But not even they could get the killer in time, who managed to sneak off undetected before being picked up by a random lorry driver named Tommy.

She’d flagged him down and sold him a story that she’d been kicked out of her boyfriend’s car, after finding out he was cheating on her. Meena teased the true events while covering it up with lies, as she flirted with Tommy. While hiding herself from the window as police cars sped past her, she claimed to have no idea what had gone on as she plotted her escape.

Tommy revealed his next stop on his journey was Glasgow, with Meena declaring she would head for Scotland with him – but that’s not all.

She told him her name was Manpreet, stealing the identity of the sister she almost killed and who could now be dead. With that Meena was gone, with Tommy not aware of the danger he was in, but it might not be the end for the storyline. Bosses have teased “judgement day” for the serial killer, which must be coming as that episode did not give her any comeuppance.

“I think it’s fair to say that judgement day for Meena is coming.

But whether she’ll get away with murder you’re going to have to wait and find out,” executive producer Jane Hudson teased to The Mirror and other press. “There are still some more twists and turns to be had in this story. Some that you probably won’t see coming but I think we can all agree that Meena can pretty much do anything.”

She added: “But yes, Meena’s judgement day is coming.

It won’t play out quite as you expect, there will be a lasting effect on a lot of the villagers but I think within the next few months, Meena will get what’s coming with her.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
