Live updates as lorry overturns across motorway near West London

A lorry overturned across the width of the M40 this morning (January 8). It is blocking traffic in the area on the West London-Buckinghamshire border, near Denham. Recovery works are underway but in the meantime, drivers are being sent on diversion.

The crash happened on the southbound carriageway of the M40 near the junction with the M25 shortly after 3am this morning (January 1). The southbound carriageway is shut between Junction 1A (Junction 16 of the M25) and Junction 1 (Denham Roundabout). The driver of the lorry escaped with minor injuries.

According to an update from the local road policing unit: “M40 J1A (M25) J1 Denham CLOSED “Lorry has overturned blocking all 4 lanes. The driver has escaped with minor injuries.

“Highways England are on scene and will be releasing traffic as soon as possible. Likely to be closed for some time! Please plan ahead!”
