Air ambulances lands at scene of A1 lorry crash

Delays have been seen along the A1 in Lincolnshire after a lorry left the road, with one lane of the major road closed at the scene of the incident. Slow-moving traffic was being reported Northbound in the county this afternoon. Pictures from the scene show an air ambulance in attendance as long tailbacks continue.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported slow traffic between the Thistleton Turn Off and the Colsterworth Services Junction. Lincolnshire Police say a Lorry travelling southbound collided with the central reservation. The lorry then left the road.

:Skegness road to remain closed until at least October 2023 due to trespasser fears Lane 2 of the road was closed. A lorry has been pictured off the road, with all emergency services in attendance.

Both Inrix and Google maps showed slow-moving traffic heading northbound for around 2 miles. The incident was attended by fire and rescue services, along with police and ambulance crews.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed the incident to Lincolnshire Live, saying “At 11.26 am today we were called to a single-vehicle collision on the A1 Great North Road, south of Colsterworth near Grantham. A blue HGV, travelling southbound, appears to have crossed the central reservation and gone into a field.

“The central reservation is extensively damaged and there is some debris on the road but there are no road closures in place.

The severity of any injuries is unknown at this stage.”
