A54 closed as tractor catches fire near Macclesfield

The A54 is currently closed near Macclesfield after a tractor caught fire. Firefighters are currently tackling the blaze on Buxton Road in Bosley. Crews from Congleton and Macclesfield are currently on the scene as the tractor is blocking one carriageway.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area while crews tackle the blaze. Cheshire Police are also in attendance for traffic control. The force confirmed that the road is currently closed due to a fire involving a tractor.

The vehicle is on the main road, blocking one carriageway so drivers are advised to avoid the area while the crews tackle the blaze.

Police are also in attendance for traffic control. Firefighters in breathing apparatus are using hose reel jets to fight the blaze.” A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Buxton Road is currently closed due to a fire involving a tractor that occurred at 3pm.

Highways England have been made aware.”

The force also confirmed there have been no reports of any injuries.
