Man killed after being hit by pick-up truck on garage forecourt named
A Walsall man who died after he was hit by a pick-up truck on a garage forecourt has been named as Nigel Gordon Sedgwick. The 64-year-old was trapped under a Ford Ranger vehicle at the Evans Halshaw Ford Transit Centre in Chester Road, Bretton, Flintshire. Mr Sedgwick a car delivery driver, of Formby Way, Bloxwich, was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital but was pronounced dead at 10.13am on May 3.
An inquest into his death was opened at Ruthin County Hall today (May 9) by John Gittins, coroner for North Wales east and central. Mr Sedgwick had delivered a vehicle that morning, the inquest heard. But shortly after, North Wales Police received a report from the Welsh Ambulance Service to say a man was “trapped under a pick-up truck”, North Wales Live reports.

CCTV of the incident shows the pick-up hitting Mr Sedgwick who falls beneath the wheels, Mr Gittins said. A provisional cause of death was given as severe chest injuries and crush asphyxia. Mr Gittins said the incident “remains under investigation by North Wales Police”.
The inquest was adjourned pending further inquiries.
Following the incident, a spokesman for North Wales Police said: “We are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of this incident, to contact North Wales Police.
