The pubs and bars with the lowest food hygiene ratings across the North East
While some drinkers may opt for a light bar snack such as Nobby’s Nuts or their favourite flavour of Walker’s, others like to enjoy some classic pub grub on their outing. And while cheap and cheerful dishes like fish and chips, or steak and ale pies are enough to get the taste buds flowing – the food hygiene ratings of some establishments serving them up may do the complete opposite. Of course, not all bars and pubs have a ‘dinky diner’ status – with some excelling for their almost world-class carveries and light bites as well as organisation and preparation in the kitchen.
But there are some across the North East who have simply failed in terms of cleanliness and sanitation in the eyes of visiting authorities when judgement day has beckoned. : The food hygiene ratings for every McDonald’s in the North East We all know that judgement can be skewed following a number of alcoholic drinks, so it’s important that punters are aware of the ratings before their visit in case they decide to get a bite.
In a recent poll, 85 per cent of people said that they wouldn’t eat from a pub or bar with a 0 food hygiene rating, with the rest of those participating happy to ignore scores. So we’ve taken a look at every single food hygiene rating for bars and pubs across the North East, compiling a list of the lowest scoring from each area according to the Food Standards Agency. In the ratings, five is top of the scale, where standards are very good, and zero is at the bottom, where urgent improvement is necessary.
