Biker, 33, dies and driver arrested after motorbike crashes with truck
A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a truck in Bolton. The smash happened on Manchester Road in the Westhoughton area at around 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday). Police officers, paramedics and fire crews raced to the incident and closed off the road.
The rider of the motorbike – a 33-year-old man – was tragically pronounced dead at the scene after being left with critical injuries. His family are being supported by officers, police said. READ MORE: Woman stabbed in broad daylight – another woman has been arrested
The driver of the truck – a man aged in his 60s – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was later released under investigation. As part of their investigation, police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
They particularly want to speak to anyone who might have footage. PC Simon Venguedasalon, of SCIU’s Specialist Operation, said: “My thoughts firstly go out to the loved ones of the man who has sadly lost his life and we are doing all we can to support his family at this difficult time. Work is well underway to understand the circumstances of this incident and after making an arrest at the scene, there is still a thorough investigation to take place.
