Crash closes part of M4 into Wales bringing traffic to standstill

One patient has been taken to hospital following an accident that closed part of the M4 heading into Wales. The accident happened between junction 23A Magor and junction 24 Coldra, but the road has now fully re-opened according to Traffic Wales and traffic monitoring website Inrix. Eye-witnesses said that police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said that one patient had been taken to the Grange University Hospital following the incident. A statement from the Welsh Ambulance Service read: “We were called at 2.53pm this afternoon, Sunday 31 July, to reports of a road traffic accident on the westbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 23 and 24. “We sent a paramedic in a rapid response car and two emergency ambulances to the scene, where crews were also supported by an operations manager.”

The incident is now clear and all three lanes have re-opened.
