HGV mechanic stopped by police in Grantown was drug-driving
An HGV mechanic who was stopped for a routine check by police in Grantown showed signs of having taken drugs. Fiscal depute Karen Poke told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood that 40 year old Robert Greig, of Claremont, Alloa had reddening, watery eyes and delayed speech. He also appeared nervous when officers spoke to him on Castle Road East on May 31, last year.
“A strong smell was detected from the vehicle.” Ms Poke said. A saliva test proved positive for drugs and subsequent analysis of blood indicated Greig was four times the safe driving limit. His reading was 8mcgs of cannabis when the limit is 2mcgs and he admitted drug driving at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Greig was fined GBP790 and banned from driving for a year at Inverness Sheriff Court earlier today.
