Watkin Jones puts A55 drive thru restaurants and service station plan on the market
A roadside site with planning in place is on the market with the deadline for bids about to close. Watkin Jones secured outline permission for the development just off the A55 near Llangefni on Anglesey. The site includes permission for a petrol forecourt, drive thru, additional restaurants and a ‘travel hotel’.
Planning has been in place for a number of years but the scheme has not moved forward. Developer Watkin Jones placed the site on the market – with agent Richard Baddeley saying that there had been strong interest. Now a last appeal for “best and final bids” is being made – with a deadline of end of business tomorrow to submit.

The site has the benefit of an access previously constructed to aid this development, sited immediately off the roundabout leading into the proposed service area.
Joint agent Hindley Lawrence said: “The Isle of Anglesey has limited HGV Truck Stop provision, so the property’s proximity to the port of Holyhead make it an ideal location for a comprehensive truck stop to be included as part of a wider service area.
There is potential to deviate from the existing planning consent to deliver enhanced service area including truck stop and EV charging facilities.”
